This bar was manufactured in 1921 by Curtiss Candy Company, where it remained for 60 years until it was finally purchased by Nabisco and then finally Nestle.
It is commonly believed that this bar is named after base balls Babe Ruth, but the official story (either sand or to protect them from a trial!) Was the bar named after the daughter of President Grover Cleveland. What brings the official story in doubt is that at the time this candy was created, the president had long left the White House, and it was also 17 years after his daughter was dead. And on the other hand, this bar was produced just across the street from the field where Babe Ruth played back then!
